Grandma & New Years!

Grandma Zoll came to visit yesterday! Ida Jane was so happy to see her. You can see how much fun she's having sitting on Grandma's lap.

Of course, today is Chinese New Year, so we had to dress up just a bit:

Dad and Mom were planning on going to a play tonight, but an unexpected snowstorm came out of the blue and messed up the roads pretty good. So we had to turn around and come home before we even got out of Rockville. On the good side, we were finally dressed up and looking good for a family picture, which we haven't been since, well, never.

Groovy Baby!

Ida Jane is doing great. She's rolled over a few times now (from being on her belly to her back) and she's discovered how to make raspberries. As a result, there are a lot more smiles:

Sometimes the smiles can get, well, a bit drooly. But that doesn't mean they're any less pretty to look at:

It's going to be a very big week. On Tuesday, we have an extended appointment at Children's Hospital. We'll be meeting with doctors to talk about how Ida Jane is doing, developmentally. She gets this appointment because she decided to join us so early. With Ida Jane's pediatrician so happy with her growth and abilities, we don't expect any big surprises. The only thing that might go wrong is the weather, which is supposed to get snowy. Mom is keeping her fingers crossed that the snow holds off until later in the day, so that she can get two straight days home with Ida Jane. And then on Saturday Grandma Zoll is coming for a visit, which should be a lot of fun.

With all of this happening, we'd better get some rest!

Ida Jane reading, rebelling

Ida Jane turned five months old yesterday! Can you believe it? It seems both longer and shorter than that. It feels like ages since she was in the NICU, tiny and, well, tiny. At the same time, the days just fly by now, and she gets bigger and learns more every day.

She's really beginning to enjoy reading books with mom and dad. Here's dad reading a nice book to her. Watch her try to turn the pages and follow the thrilling, twisting plot of "Daddy Loves Me"

Also, in case you were curious, this is what a Feminist looks like:

Reading books

Ida Jane loves her exersaucer. Here she is, playing around with the book.

We think her eyes are looking a little green lately, and her red hair is starting to come in, slowly but surely. Here's a nice close up to give you an idea.

I'll be adding another video later this weekend, with some chatter!
