A Cape Wedding

Ida Jane had a great trip up to Cape Cod last weekend. She was a great traveller, falling asleep on the plane as they closed the door and waking up when we arrived for both flights.

Here's Ida Jane, catching up with Meme and waving to everyone:

She was happy to meet some new family at the dinner the night before, like Aunt Ami, who wore a very exciting necklace.

Getting dressed up for the big day was very fun:

Along with cousins Ryan and Katie, Ida Jane posed for some pictures with the bride and groom:

Ida Jane gave her new Aunt Stephanie a big kiss to welcome her to the family!

Baba is a very, very funny guy:

Not much is better than hanging out with cousins.

Unfortunately, some of our pictures didn't turn out. Ida Jane also had a great time meeting Uncle Tim, Uncle Bob and Aunt Paula, and seeing her Uncle Jeff and Aunt Kris again. We hope to see everyone again soon!

Ida Jane and Evan

Ida Jane and Evan got together yesterday in Rockville. His visit was so exciting, Ida Jane couldn't stay awake for all of it. But we did have a good time:

Here's another picture with Aunt Sarah:

Bananas and Baltimore

Ida Jane turned eight months on Cinco de Mayo. As a treat, Mom and Dad thought she might enjoy her first taste of something sweet, bananas.

We were wrong. Who knew a baby would prefer peas?

Ida Jane did, however, enjoy her birthday trip up to see family, including Great Aunt Carol, visiting from Hawaii.

She had fun meeting her Pop for the very first time. She was charming everyone with her bright eyes.

Today she went to her first baseball game, and while she fell asleep in the fourth and mom and dad retreated in the fifth, she enjoyed every minute while she was awake. Here she is right before the first pitch with mom. Since Dad is an Indians fan, and Mom roots for the Red Sox, we've decided the best solution is for Ida Jane to become an Orioles fan. That way, everyone wins. (Except the O's, unfortunately!)

Ida Jane says hello

Ida Jane has begun using her hands as more than toy magnets recently. She's learned to ask to be picked up, as well as to express her displeasure when mommy and daddy don't realize what she's asking.

And now she's starting to get the gist of this whole "waving" thing that we've been doing for the past few months.

Pretty good, eh?

Ida Jane remains crazy about her animal friends, and her animal friends remain crazy about her, too. Here's a picture of Olivia and her relaxing together on our bed.

Dad just finished a whole month off of work with his little girl and started his new position on the first of the month. While he's excited about his new job, he'll miss all the quality time he had. Mom is next up, as the end of school keeps creeping forward on the calendar.

Easter with the Wee Beanie

Ida Jane had a very interesting Easter Sunday, with a trip to the Botanical gardens! Here's the family enjoying one of the big flower displays.

Of course one of the star attractions were the lillies. Ida Jane thought they looked very pretty.

Here's a picture of our own little lilly sitting up at home. She's got a nice wide base to support her when she sits. ;)

Fresh from the sea

Ida Jane had her first trip to the Atlantic Ocean this week. When we arrived on Wednesday at 5 PM, it was a balmy 80 degrees, which would be the last time we saw temperatures anywhere close to that. The following Thursday the high was 55, and on Friday it didn't get above 50. It was supposed to snow that night, and in an underheated cabin, Mom and Dad decided to cut the vacation a bit short. Ida Jane was a bit sad that she didn't get to show off her legs on the beach:

But we sure had a good time while we were there. Here's Mom and Ida Jane on the first trip to the beach:

And here's a picture as the tide comes in:

Here's a picture with Daddy on a visit to Kill Devil Hills, the area just south of Kitty Hawk where the Wright brothers flew for the very first time. This rock marks the spot!

And, last but not least, here's a movie of Ida Jane enjoying her car ride home, thanks to a toy, some songs, and a Sunday Driver from Pennsylvania. ;) Daddy didn't know there was a movie being filmed.

Cherry Blossoms and Fantasy Baseball

Ida Jane has had an eventful few days, with a trip to Pittsburgh this past weekend and a visit to the cherry blossoms in Washington this morning!

In Pittsburgh she was excited to see Grandma and Grandpa Zoll:

She loved listening to the Flatlanders play after the draft was over. She had her eye on Uncle John's Mandolin.

Today she really had a good time at the mall and tidal basin. Here she is trying to figure out just what these blossoms are all about:

And she was really interested in the ducks and boats on the tidal basin. She's never seen so much water outside of a bathtub before! The Jefferson Memorial itself was a good stop for a bottle break, too. Here she is with Mom on her way around the Basin.
